The Vatican has downplayed threats of protests against Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Germany later this week.
Some Church leaders in Germany criticised the 100 or so members of parliament who have threatened to boycott Pope Benedict's address to the Bundestag. "If someone has objections, it doesn't depend on us or the Pope," the Vatican's spokesman, Fr Federico Lombardi, said last week. He said the Pope was going to Germany to try to put God back at the centre of society and daily life.http://feeds.feedburner.com/benedict16
